Specialized Program Track – Mountain Biking – Session 2C
July 16, 2017 @ 12:00 am - July 29, 2017 @ 12:00 am EST
The mountain bike program track is available to campers enrolling in session of two weeks or longer, and is two weeks in length. You’ll learn mountain bike riding techniques for a variety of conditions, from dirt roads to steep single track, from sandy conditions to rocky and technical courses. You’ll also learn trail etiquette, how ride with respect for nature and other people. And you’ll learn some basic maintenance and emergency repair. But let’s not forget the riding! You’ll start out with easy trails so you can get used to the altitude and the bike, and we get a chance to see how you do. You’ll then progress to intermediate trails, which are longer, steeper, and may have some short uphill stretches. Over the course of the two weeks, we ride, and ride, and ride! You’ll cover many of the epics, including Butcher Creek Trail (used for the famous Downieville Downhill Classic race). Biking trails are up to 14 miles (22 kilometers) of mostly single-track, and some with descents of up to 4,000 feet (1400 meters)! Enrollment in the Mountain Biking Program track also includes a lift ticket for a day at Northstar’s mountain bike park! About half your time at camp will be spent in the program track leaving half of your time to enjoy all the other activities camp offers. The fee for the Mountain Biking Program Track is $225 which will be added to the session tuition.
