Because why would you want to explore by foot when you could be in a saddle? Let’s explore the Chattahoochee National Forest on horseback with our new friends. 24 of us will plan our own trip to the camp outpost and then travel around the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains with our horses. We’ll discover what it’s like to really care for our horses in an open meadow, set up camp, and cook our meals over the campfire. In addition to all that trail riding, let’s participate in equestrian workshops with other Girl Scouts from around the country. Meeting new friends is what it’s all about! *Prerequisites: Girls must be 12 – 18 years old at the time of this session. * This session is for girls who are confident in the presence of horses, on the ground, and in the saddle. Physical stamina for long hours in the saddle. Ability to hike 1-3 miles per day on uneven terrain. *Minimum riding/handing requirement: control at the trot, able to lead, groom, and tackle with assistance.
